Learn more about Hybrid Bucket Trucks!

Almost since the advent of the internal combustion engine vehicles, which are the aerial bucket trucks are equipped with massive diesel engines. For nearly a century (1923), the diesel engine has been the mechanism of choice for trucks, only because it is the force required to move heavy loads delivered and it consumes less fuel than a gasoline engine of the same displacement.

Even today, diesel engines still dominate our roads together with the gasoline variety. The question is: How long this trend will continue? These days, more efficient engine designs are constantly developed and tested as a possible solution to rising fuel costs. At the same time, the scientists and car designers on advanced electric motors, powerful minus the carbon emissions problem are the same working conditions.

Advances and new designs are not limited to cars. As an example, look at the electric and diesel bucket truck. Since the development of the aerial bucket truck, was exclusively powered by a diesel engine. Now with rising fuel costs in recent decades, new construction plans are drawn and the electric motor is the equation in the hope of reducing the cost of operating the aerial bucket truck included.

Diesel version The boom of the aerial lift bucket truck is known for its reliability and durability. This kind of a boom can work all day long non-stop as long as fuel to power its movements. Despite the very good reputation it carries, there are some negative aspects to consider.

Firstly, this increase leads bucket truck alone for a long time that the engine is running to supply the hydraulic system, which in turn burns fuel, as it requires keeping works. This arrangement is not the best alternative to rising fuel costs, cause similar increases in the total operating cost for the aerial bucket truck.

These engines also produce significant noise during operation. Even with the exhaust muffled the noise of them is still produced considerably high and can interfere with oral communication as well as cause hearing damage. For this reason, operators and workers who contribute to the lifting device of the vehicle well-insulated headphones and devices communicate with gestures.

Electric version Small electrically driven boom has been around for some time now and have often used for indoor operations. Usage on bucket trucks for lifting device only is a fairly new design and is referred to as a hybrid bucket truck. The use of an electric motor to drive the hydraulic system to supplement the diesel engine that powers the movement of the bucket truck has gone a long way in reducing the fuel consumption and the total cost for the operation of the entire vehicle.

Of course, the most effective use of the stand-alone electric powered lift in the house where there is an outlet available. They operate smoothly and quietly and can create just the right amount of energy to lift the load. The only downside to this version of the elevator is that they are used only in areas where there is an available source of energy. Although they come with a back-up power supply, can only keep enough voltage current battery technology, a fee for a limited time.

The same technology is currently considered a hybrid aerial bucket truck. When the electric motor for driving the hydraulic system runs the elevator operates with much less noise and effectively reduces the fuel consumption of the vehicle. The only disadvantage of the hybrid construction is that the charge stored in the battery, is limited to a certain time to charge and still to a certain point in time. Thus, the vehicle must be between the diesel engine and electric motor only switch to power the vehicle hydraulic system, meaning is still consuming some fuel, just not as much as without electric motor.

Other Considerations Both the diesel and electric boom lifts are well equipped to do the job. Because of the two different energy sources, there is an expected variance in their performance. For tasks that require long operating time, a diesel-electrically operated lifts lift as is currently more desirable, not required over the life of the battery for long operations. On the other hand, for quiet operation and low cost of the electrically operated lift the equipment for the job.

Future technological advances are required to include the design and production of a battery that can hold a charge and thus work longer than what the current versions can do. Meanwhile, the hybrid truck is still a very good idea for many applications. Any business owner will see a savings in fuel costs, so consider this option for when searching for an aerial bucket truck!...
