When
selecting the power companies that use for your gas, electricity,
telephone, broadband and mobile phones to most people look for the best
deal. But what about customer service? This is a very important point to consider when weighing which deal to go, but I suppose it's always overlooked.
Perhaps the reason why you think to change the power company because you have a bad experience with your current supplier, in this case maybe customer service is high on the list of criteria for your new supplier. If something goes wrong, it's just that we know exactly how well our suppliers customer service is to be found. Have you tried with your power company recently? How long do you have to wait on hold? I know when I tried to contact bidder last year on behalf of a customer that they realized how long was their phone queue, because they actually had to ask a menu, what kind of music I want to listen to hold while!
UK call center?
However, getting through your supplier might be the least of your worries, what if you are someone whose native language is not English, get Let's face it, it happens to all of us to try is a problem with someone who does not really understand English a to explain nightmare, it's even more frustrating when you do not understand what they are trying to say! Yes move call centers where the work is extremely cheap can be great for the provider but sure. Not for us as customers, who you thought that idea was obviously not thinking about the welfare of the company customers
No matter how well run a business and no matter how great their services, problems will arise from time to time is the true test of a great company, how well they deal with these problems.
Cheap deals can be large at first glance, but you really need to think about whether it is "too cheap", we all know the saying "it sounds too good to be true", so it may be worthwhile to take a step back before jumping into a deal and given the company's reputation first. The Internet is find a great research tool for great deals, but you should also use it to check up on the company that you are considering switching, there are many horror stories about bad customer service with this company? How do they deal with complaints? Their offers are really as cheap as their ads state? A few minutes of research could end up saving you hours or even days of problems in the future.
Cheap is not always best
To give you an example, a colleague of mine turned his cell phone last year to a company that has a really cheap package, he ported his number, which he has had for more than 10 years, to the new company. However, the day his phone was due to port over-current, he lost signal on his cell phone, (which is sometimes normal for a short time when the number ported over) hours later he still had no signal. He tried contacting the company only to find they could only be contacted by e-mail, so he sent an e-mail. 2 days later, no contact from the company and still no signal, he finally got an answer that the companies were in the search. To make a long story short, he finally got a phone number through a 3rd party, for the director of the company, he said, and was assured that the problem would be solved - he had email has been said that his number, which he had had to remember for more than 10 years, was "lost" and that he would have a new one! He tried going back to his old provider, but they told him they could not help because they no longer "had his old number." Weeks later he had a mobile service, but without his old number. Do you really want that to happen to you?
Now do not get me wrong, I'm not saying that deals are all "cheap" bad and that you pay more for a good service, what I am saying is you do to ensure your homework, make sure you thoroughly check all facts before you switch the utility provider. Customer service is invaluable, hopefully you will never need to find out how good or bad your company service.
So what can you do to ensure that you go to a company with excellent customer service? The best way is to ask family, friends or work colleagues who they are with and whether they had any problems. Recommendations from people you know and trust are probably the best way if they try a new product or service. Internet research is to examine a great way to be a new company or a product just be aware that not all reviews are good or bad, really, as the reviewer may have an ulterior motive for writing the review.
If you can not get a good recommendation from someone you know, then check out independent reviews is just as good. Make sure you get a company that is truly independent and not an affiliate or employee of any power company. A good example would be the Which Magazine, are widely viewed as a consumer of the Bible in the UK.
