Are there any disadvantages of solar energy?

Solar Energy is one of the earliest sources of renewable energy, it also has one of the most popular renewable energy sources. However, like any other thing in life is to work, the solar energy have their disadvantages. In this article some of the disadvantages of solar energy.

One of the significant disadvantages of solar power is that the technology simply does not exist, or is not efficient enough to supply energy on a large scale. Solar panels are on the amount of energy they can produce output even limited to your home. To provide energy for hundreds and thousands of houses, a company needs it would need to be huge solar panels to meet the requirements. This also applies to the home solar power. Sometimes the energy yield is not enough to meet demand.

Another big problem is the initial cost. Many people are required due to the high investments to buy and install the panels down. Moreover, it can take many years for the savings in electricity offset the initial investment. This is fine if you plan on staying in your home for years to come, but the payback period must be carefully considered before purchasing a solar thermal system.

Many people who want to install solar panels for their home overestimate the amount of energy that can produce solar cells. In addition, energy is still used by the home, especially if the sun does not shine like night time. Many people expect too much too soon. Installation of a solar panel is not that you go completely off-grid. There will always be situations when you will need regular service or time when the solar panel will not produce the amount of energy needed to meet the demand.

Solar energy is not the alternative source of energy is always enthusiastic. It has its place in the world of alternative energy, but does has its advantages and disadvantages. If you are buying a solar panel for domestic energy that you need to consider how long you will pay for the investment, it should be called as "payback time". You also need to consider what you want from your solar panel. Do you want to reduce your monthly or annual electricity bill? Or go completely off-grid, and even re-sell unused electricity? The latter is possible but it would require a major investment in the run and a longer payback period.

One thing to consider is the combination of renewable energy. Combination of wind and solar energy produces more energy for your needs. You might want to also consider some other alternative energy sources such as geothermal or underground....
