Water conservation begins at home

Turn on our taps just about anything emerge is not something many of us think. We grew with a never ending supply of water, so we thought. Drive through any city in Texas and you will see vast areas of dried lakes and reservoirs. Ask a resident of California, as it is to have a hose pipe ban. Water is not something to be taken for granted.

Conserving water is something that we all can do on an individual basis and budget. If we do not start paying close attention to how we deal with our water, we may soon be in very limited supply. Here are ways you can reduce your water consumption at home, at school and in the office:

1 Turn It Off Turn off your water when your teeth, shampoo brush the hair or even wash their hands hundreds of gallons of water per year savings if you have a family of four. Teach your kids the tap off when not actually using the water.

2 Set a timer Taking a shower is to consume less water than filling the tub for a bath. Put an egg timer next to the tub and set it for five minutes. Once you get up to five minutes to shower with no problem, set it for two minutes. Under two minutes shower will again save hundreds of gallons of water per year.

3 Wash full loads There is no easier way to wasting water to wash a half load of dishes and laundry. Do not turn your washing machine until you have a full charge. Better yet, purchase the equipment you to control the amount of water you use to adjust. So if you have small loads or do not have have a large family, you can use the appropriate amount of water.

4 Low Flow Heads Install low-flow faucets and shower heads in the house. You will not notice a difference in water pressure but you will use less water!

5 Put a brick in the toilet It makes no sense to replace your toilet, if you just put a brick in the tank. This will reduce the amount of water it takes to fill the tank, thus reducing the amount of water down the drain when you flush. Do not have a brick? Fill two or three water bottles with water or sand and use them instead!

Conserving Water on a personal level is not only good for the environment, but makes sure that we use the water clear for decades to come. With less water will not cost you anything and takes very little effort. Start today to preserve the availability of water to ensure tomorrow.
